ABOUT HANDKNOTTING

Originating in Tibet, this weaving method wraps yarn carefully around two warps and a temporary rod. Once the rod is covered with loops, a cut is made to form a pile. Composed of thousands of individual knots, it requires highly skilled artisans and time, making them very high quality and long.

ABOUT HAND-TUFTING

Hand-tufted rugs are created with strands of wool punched through the backing using a handheld tufting tool. Once the design is complete, a layer of backing is applied to secure the tufts, and the surface is sheared to reveal a soft, even pile. The pile can be sheared into various heights and patterns, allowing for variations in both feel and design and creating a hardwearing, soft finish.

ABOUT FLATWEAVE

On horizontal looms, artisans pass the weft yarns carefully through the warp, beating them tightly into place to form a strong, flat surface to create a tactile, versatile flatweave.

This four-piece collection draws inspiration from archival Shrimps prints, as well as from Hannah Weiland’s travels and home life. Each design embodies her signature aesthetic, blending playful motifs with timeless elegance. The colour palette runs cohesively throughout the collection and is anchored by signature Shrimps hues. The title Vesta comes from the Roman goddess of the hearth, home, and family.
